COMPREHENSIVE SCAR THERAPY
State of the Art Scar Therapy Centre
CALI offers the most comprehensive and advanced scar therapy services available in the Caribbean.

Why do scars look different compared to normal skin?

Colour: May be lighter or darker or both. This is known as dyspigmentation.
Contour: The tissue below the scar may be sunken due to deeper scarring or raised (for hypertrophic or keloid)
Quality: Scar tissue is not as resilient and usually is thinner than normal skin

We can treat all of these issues at CALI. At your scar consultation, all of the key issues are identified and a therapeutic plan is designed to suit your specific needs.

The success of scar therapy often depends on how long the scar has been there. The longer a scar is present, the less likely it is to respond to treatment. Therefore, it is best to seek treatment at the earliest possible opportunity after the scar is formed.

Some of the different types of scars include:

Atrophic scars - These scars are thin or flat.

Hypertrophic scars - Thick, red, raised scars occurring within the edges of the wound.

Keloid scars - These look like hypertrophic scars, but are firm and extend beyond the edges of the wound. Keloids can be swollen and often itch or hurt.

Treatments We Offer
Laser scar removal Palomar's state of the art 1540nm Starlux laser offers a noninvasive solution that uses fractional laser technology to improve the appearance and quality of scars.

Our fractional laser technology is the driving power behind our acne and surgical scar removal procedure. We use pulses of laser to coagulate scar tissue and trigger healthy new collagen to form in the skin. There is zero down-time, no infection risk and little to no discomfort. Our fractional later is far more effective at treating the acne scar pits than peels, potions, microneedling or dermabrasion. Check out our before and after pics! Fractional laser is simply the best available treatment for acne scars.

Laser scar removal at CALI is appropriate for use on all skin types, making ours the preferred method of scar removal for excellent clinical outcomes.

Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy is an effective form of treatment for atrophic scars for example acne scars and scars due to injury. Platelet rich plasma is a concentration of platelets suspended in plasma isolated from a sample of your own blood. The growth factors found in the platelets helps regenerate and rejuvenate the scar tissues, improving the texture and vitality of the skin. PRP can be successfully combined with fractionated laser therapy for even better outcomes.

Steroid Therapy - steroid injections into the scar can help to flatten and soften the appearance of keloid or hypertrophic scars. The steroid is injected into the scar itself. Side effects of this treatment are negligible once the injections are done by an experienced practitioner who is familiar with the dose required. This treatment is usually repeated at four- to six-week intervals.

Silicone Therapy is a good option for the management and prevention of abnormal scars such as hypertrophic scars and keloids. Silicone dressings and gels create a waterproof membrane that acts like an extra layer of skin. Helps to soften, flatten and smooth the scar while maintaining the moisture balance and elasticity of the adjacent skin.

Scar Revision - We provide various surgical techniques for scar revision which are designed to make the scar as smooth and invisible as possible. This can involve recreating the incision, moving skin around or even moving the scar to make it less visible. What would work best for your specific scar will depend on where it is located and how it looks. Dr Narinesingh will evaluate your scars and discuss where this is a good option for treating you scar.
